WILDCAT CAVE Boats and Boatmens -- Wildcat Cave Chamberlain is now well supplied with a number of good boats and they are well manned. O. Hanson has three good ones, and can take parties across to the island in short order and safely. He carries the mail to and from the agency, and carries passengers both ways, sometimes using a sail. He will ride you of an evening up to the gulches above town, and on up to the famous WILD CAT CAVE, whose depth has as yet never been explored. It is known to have been the haunt and home of wild cats, which, a couple of years ago, were quite numerous. When Horace Row lived up American creek, the only white man on the line between here and Mitchell, he says the cats used to frequently annoy him in his sleep by fighting and acting just like any other cats. That he would get up in the night and shoot at them and scare them away. Get Hanson to take you up to Wild Cat cave. Who will explore it and report? Besides, Hanson insists there is a hot spring on the island, whose waters continually boil winter and summer, go and see that. The evening time will be found delightful for rowing and boating. Help the boys for their enterprise in fixing up the boats. - Chamberlain Register 7-5-1883

Duncan Hines and Party Visit Here Duncan Hines, a national figure in the authorship of "Adventures of Good Eating," and "Lodging for a Night," is in Chamberlain this week enjoying migratory waterfowl hunting. He is accompanied by his wife and a party of friends. While here he is a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Orie Derby and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Jones. The Hines party arrived Tuesday and the first morning's hunt netted their limit of green heads or Mallards. It is understood they likewise have bagged several of the large golden breasted Canadian geese. Chamberlain community is very pleased to have Mr. and Mrs. Hines and his party recognize our people and community by a several days visit. And we know that when these visitors depart, they will more fully appreciate that term "Western Hospitality." Certainly, we'll see him again next fall. Register 11-15-40
